Supermodal is an advanced filter plugin that offers unmatched sound design potential, allowing you to reshape audio into rich, resonant textures. Featuring a powerful Modal filter that emulates the sonic characteristics of various resonant bodies, Supermodal uses hundreds of precise bandpass filters to transform ordinary tracks. Combined with a classic state-variable filter (SVF) and a comprehensive modulation system, it can create anything from cinematic soundscapes to pulsating rhythms, harmonic pads, and much more.
What is a Modal Filter? A modal filter models the resonating frequencies (modes) created when an object vibrates. Supermodal utilizes this principle to shape sounds using 27 modes, based on nine different models, each with three variations. These include flangers, phasers, vocal filters, and physical as well as mathematically modeled resonators. With decay, damping, and partial controls, you can fine-tune these resonances to craft unique, evolving sounds.
Show-Stopping Manipulation: Supermodal shines when its powerful filters are combined with its versatile modulation system. Featuring 4 modulation slots and 6 modulation sources (Meta knob, ADSR, Envelope follower, Sequencer, MIDI/CV triggers, and Randomizer), Supermodal allows for intricate and dynamic modulation setups. You can even cross-modulate between slots for deeper complexity. The plugin’s stereo operation allows the independent modulation of left and right signals, producing awe-inspiring stereo effects and spatial textures. Virtually all parameters in Supermodal are modulation-ready, enabling expressive and complex sound sculpting.
SVF Filter with Fat Non-Linear Drive: The state-variable filter (SVF) in Supermodal smoothly transitions between high-pass, band-pass, and low-pass modes. Operating in parallel with the Modal filter, the SVF boasts a 24dB per-octave slope familiar to classic analog synthesizers and can self-resonate when pushed. The Drive feature adds warmth and thickness to the signal, and the Blend slider enables seamless morphing between the state-variable and Modal filter for fluid, expressive sound transformations.
