Atomika Synthesizer by Cherry Audio is a stunning virtual recreation of the Polivoks synthesizer, manufactured in the Soviet Union between 1982 and 1990. Designed in collaboration with renowned DSP engineer Mark Barton, Atomika captures the essence of the original Polivoks with added features that bring it firmly into the modern music production environment. The original’s unique design, developed by Vladimir and Olympiada Kuzmin, is maintained and enhanced to create a versatile, powerful instrument suitable for today’s producers.

Atomika’s most famous feature, the iconic Polivoks filter, is faithfully reproduced, including its use of programmable op-amps for a distinctive, gritty sound. Cherry Audio has expanded on this by adding new filter controls like Starve, Filter Drive, and Amp Drive, along with highpass, notch, and peak filter modes, significantly extending the sonic palette.

In addition to the expanded filter, Atomika offers polyphony up to 16 voices, a significant upgrade from the original duophonic mode. Unison stacking, enhanced LFO controls with additional waveforms, and modulation via velocity, aftertouch, pitch, and mod wheels bring performance options that the original hardware could not offer. The second panel introduces an arpeggiator and four studio-quality effects: Phasor, Flange/Chorus, Echo, and Reverb, each with extensive modulation options via a dedicated effects LFO.

Atomika also features over 350 professionally designed presets, an immersive user interface with optional Cyrillic text labels, and a “hide keyboard” mode to maximize screen space. Its advanced MIDI mapping and automation capabilities make it a perfect blend of classic analog sound and cutting-edge digital control, ideal for rare synth enthusiasts and modern music producers alike.
