The Cherry Audio Elka-X Synthesizer faithfully recreates the legendary Synthex, an Italian analog synthesizer that was originally designed by Mario Maggi and manufactured by ELKA in the early 1980s. The Elka-X captures the essence of the original, preserving its rich tonal character while introducing enhancements that make it suitable for modern production environments.
Elka-X meticulously models the original Synthex’s digitally-controlled analog oscillators, flexible four-pole multimode filter, and lush onboard chorus effect, while expanding the feature set. Notably, it increases polyphony, introduces mono and unison modes, adds velocity response, and extends modulation options with an enhanced filter and LFOs. The sequencer has been refined for improved usability, and a new arpeggiator has been added, with independent settings for each layer. Additional effects, including studio-quality echo and reverb, enrich the sonic possibilities, making Elka-X not just a tribute, but an evolution of a classic synthesizer.
