This drum samples pack offers a unique collection of three vintage drum machines, each bringing its distinctive character and sound to your music production. Built around the same time and often misunderstood as clones, these retro boxes stand out with their individual features and sonic qualities.
The DR-55 features a rimshot sound and a tone control. Used by numerous artists over the decades, it has a signature sound despite its few sounds and parameters.
The Soundmaster SR-88 offers a very delicate, soft, analogue sound, making it perfect for electro tracks.
The Amdek RMK-100 is the rarest of the bunch. Sold as a DIY project, it is hard to find nowadays. It has the rawest, most acidic sound of the three. While its kick drum is softer than the TR-808, its hi-hats are gems for any acid and electro lover.
We recorded these machines with the usual care, using a custom chain of gentle tube compression and a tube preamp. Multiple takes were made to capture the subtle analogue variations of each sound. We also processed them with vintage hardware EQ, adding some distortion on one kit for a dirtier and punchier sound. Any round-robin capable softsampler will love these analogue sounds!
