Fluid IRs are an advanced form of impulse responses that encapsulate more detailed sonic characteristics compared to traditional IRs. Unlike regular IRs that merely mimic a speaker’s frequency response, Fluid IRs also reproduce the speaker’s dynamic behavior and harmonics, delivering a tone that is more robust, lifelike, and direct, with better management of the bass frequencies.
As of version 1.4.26, all cabinets in TH-U and all SuperCabinet libraries have been upgraded to include Fluid IRs, provided as a free update.
Users can also upload their own conventional IRs into TH-U, utilizing Overloud’s proprietary Fluid IR technology that uses an AI algorithm trained to recreate their dynamic and harmonic responses.
With the SuperCabinet, visually browse a large IR collection, choose the speaker, microphone model, its placement, the preamp, and the power amp. Load your own IRs using the integrated file browser. Combine up to 4 different IRs, EQ them, pan them, and monitor their response with the integrated graphic. All IRs are phase-aligned to prevent phase cancellations.
The innovative Multiband mode allows loading separate IRs on different frequencies, opening endless tonal capabilities. The impedance (Z) Curve can be tweaked for each IR to simulate the electrical coupling with the Power Amplifier.
The Stereo knob allows transforming a mono IR into a stereo tone. Export the final IR in .wav format to use in your favorite hardware modeler or other software IR loaders, containing all the adjustments made in the SuperCabinet.
The SuperCabinet includes three factory libraries (1728 IRs) from sampling a 4×12″ Simms Watts, a Friedman BE412, and a Dr.Z 2×12″ cabinet. Each library is a systematic capture of a cabinet created with 18 microphones in 16 positions along with two power amps, totaling 576 IRs. All IRs are phase-aligned for blending without phase cancellations.
SuperCabinet offers a vast collection of third-party IR libraries created by selected sound designers like Choptones and The Amp Factory, created after extensive sampling and editing work.
