The Sonoris Parallel Equalizer is a highly specialized minimum phase parametric equalizer, designed for both mixing and mastering tasks where precision and transparency are essential. Unlike traditional series-connected equalizers, the Sonoris Parallel Equalizer features a unique parallel filter topology where bands 2 to 6 are connected in parallel. This design mimics the behavior of analog graphic equalizers, making it ideal for subtle adjustments, as the gains of multiple bands do not simply sum together. The filters are constructed using both feedforward and feedback circuits, providing an extremely clean signal path, with the filters working directly on the same input signal, ensuring accurate gain response up to Nyquist.

This parallel setup ensures that adjustments are more nuanced, requiring the user to work with more precision. For example, applying a low shelf boost and then a low-frequency bell boost won’t have an exaggerated effect, making it harder to overdo EQ adjustments. This characteristic allows mastering engineers to enhance or shape the sound without introducing unwanted artifacts or distortion.

The Sonoris Parallel Equalizer features 7 bands, with lowpass and highpass filters on bands 1 and 7, constant-Q bells on bands 3 to 5, and shelving filters on bands 2 and 6. Bands 1 and 7 are connected in series, while the remaining bands are connected in parallel for optimal flexibility and sound quality. The plugin supports stereo, Left, Right, and Mid/Side (M/S) processing modes, giving users the ability to process specific parts of the stereo field with ease.

Key Features:

  • 7-Band Parametric Equalizer: Minimum phase EQ with parallel filter connections for subtle, transparent adjustments. Bands 1 and 7 are low/high cuts, while bands 2 and 6 are shelves, and bands 3 to 5 are constant-Q bells.
  • Parallel Filter Topology: Bands 2 to 6 are connected in parallel, ensuring nuanced EQ adjustments without easily overdoing effects, similar to analog graphic equalizers.
  • Stereo and M/S Processing: Process stereo, Left, Right, or Mid/Side channels independently for more detailed control over the stereo image.
  • Feedforward and Feedback Circuits: The filters use both feedforward and feedback designs for natural-sounding boosts and cuts.
  • Clean Signal Path: All filters work on the same input, minimizing phase issues and preserving the integrity of the original sound.
  • Upsampling: No pre-warping effects and correct response up to Nyquist for accurate sound shaping.
  • Large Graphical Display: The scalable interface includes a spectrum analyzer, dragable handles for easy EQ adjustments, and zoomable levels for precise control.
The Sonoris Parallel Equalizer is a versatile tool for mastering and mixing engineers who require precise, subtle control over their audio material. With full automation support, A/B comparison, and Soft Engage technology to prevent switching noise, the plugin ensures a smooth and intuitive workflow. Available for both Windows and macOS in VST, VST3, AU, AAX, and RTAS formats, the Sonoris Parallel Equalizer integrates seamlessly into any professional environment.
