The PolyM is a virtual analog recreation of one of the most iconic polyphonic synthesizers of the late 20th century. At a time when most synthesizers were monophonic or limited to five or eight voices, the 71 voices of the original PolyM, each equipped with its own pulse width modulation, filter, VCA, and envelope generator, represented a breakthrough in sound design. XILS-lab has taken on the challenge of faithfully recreating this legendary synthesizer, and the result is a beautifully rich, expressive, and dynamic virtual instrument.

At the heart of the PolyM are two Top Octave Divider (T.O.D.) oscillators, one for sawtooth waves and the other for square waves. These oscillators are slightly detuned to create a lush phasing effect that adds depth and dimension to your sound. The hybrid nature of the PolyM, with its divide-down oscillator technology and unique filter design, enables the creation of rich chords and pads that no other synthesizer can replicate. Moreover, the combination of this technology with a monophonic, zero-delay 24db self-oscillating filter allows you to craft huge basses and cutting leads with ease.

The PolyM also features nine dedicated acoustic filters—perfect for recreating classic string, piano, organ, and harp sounds—alongside a resonator filter bank that uses three parametric filters. To further enhance your sound design options, the PolyM comes with three vintage effects: Delay, Phaser, and Reverb, as well as nine modulation slots, three monophonic, tempo-syncable LFOs, and a monophonic envelope generator. With MIDI control over all parameters, the PolyM offers endless possibilities for creative sound exploration.

Key Features:

  • Top Octave Divider Oscillators: Two aliasing-free oscillators for sawtooth and square waves, slightly detuned for phasing effects.
  • Polyphonic Voices: 71 emulated chips, each with its own mixer, VCA, envelope, 12db filter, and pulse width modulation for every note.
  • 24db Ladder Filter: A gorgeous, self-oscillating filter using XILS-lab’s acclaimed zero-delay algorithm for precise, rich sound sculpting.
  • Acoustic Filters: Nine acoustic filters (Strings, Piano, Organ, Harps) carefully recreated from the original hardware.
  • Resonator Filter Bank: Three parametric filters (6 and 12db) modeled after the original instrument.
  • Vintage Effects: Three built-in vintage effects: Delay, Phaser, and Reverb.
  • Modulation Options: Nine modulation slots, three monophonic, tempo-syncable LFOs, and a monophonic envelope generator.
  • MIDI Control: All parameters are fully controllable via MIDI for seamless integration with your DAW.
  • Over 200 Presets: A wide range of presets created by expert sound designers, providing instant inspiration.
The PolyM is a powerful and versatile tool for sound designers and musicians alike, offering a faithful recreation of a legendary polyphonic synthesizer with modern enhancements. Whether you’re after lush pads, complex chords, or massive bass and lead sounds, the PolyM will not disappoint.
