The Alto Glockenspiel is a tuned percussion library capturing a compact 25-key alto glockenspiel, typically used in student orchestras. Its natural range is from A4 - A6, but we've extended its playable range from A-1 to G8 to allow extreme high and low notes. The library includes three different articulations: hard mallet, soft mallet, and choked. Additionally, we've included our classic children's toy glockenspiel library as a bonus. Each articulation has several dynamic layers and plenty of round-robin variation to create a very dynamic and naturally playable virtual instrument.
The Alto Glockenspiel was captured from a close, dry stereo position and a far, wide position in a large cathedral, providing two very different flavors to work with. These distinct instrument articulation and microphone sets can be independently loaded and controlled, offering a variety of tonal and atmospheric options. Our intuitive UI controls allow you to customize the sound to your needs, with layer-specific controls for swell, attack, release, tightness, tuning, vibrato, and articulation selection. There's also an optional sub-synth waveform underlay module for tonal reinforcement. The step-sequencing arpeggiator and auto-roll system provide even more options.
We also provide a full rack of Kontakt’s onboard multi-effects and a wide selection of convolution reverb impulses to spatialize the sound in various real and sound-designed spaces. Additionally, the library includes a full set of sound-designed textural ambiences and custom FX presets, created by modifying the source sounds with various effects and sonic manipulation techniques. These bonus presets serve as great accompaniment to the acoustic instruments and are valuable resources for cinematic underscoring and sound design.
The custom scripted Kontakt user interface includes flexible control features like attack, release, transient offset (tighten), dynamic swelling, vibrato, and a robust Arpeggiator system with custom dynamic modes and step sequencer pattern creation options. There's also a complete DSP effects rack, including convolution reverb with dozens of unique spaces such as cathedrals, churches, halls, bunkers, garages, tunnels, chambers, rooms, and plenty of otherworldly FX impulses for endless sonic manipulations.
