Bamblong

Introducing the Bamblong – a distinctive tuned bamboo mallet percussion library meticulously hand-crafted from bamboo sections and designed exclusively for Kontakt. This library captures the essence of a traditional idiophone, similar to a marimba or angklung, originating from Southeast Asia.

Unique Construction & Articulations:
The Bamblong features a row of tuned bamboo logs used as resonance chambers, each with sound holes for optimal acoustics. The logs range in size and are played using recycled rubber bicycle tire mallets, which provide a smooth, mellow tone with a clear, crisp note and quick decay. Additionally, we’ve included unique articulations using nylon jazz brushes to add a raspy texture to the sounds.

Dual Recording Environments:
To ensure versatility, the Bamblong was recorded in two distinct settings:

• Dry Studio Setting: Captures the full warmth and tonality of each note, offering strong presence and flexibility for use with various effects.
• Live Hall Setting: Utilizes the natural acoustics of a large glass and stone hall for a bright, organic live sound, ideal for symphonic arrangements and blending with other concert percussion.

Deep Sampling:
Every note of the Bamblong has been deeply sampled with up to 24 velocity layers and 10 round-robin variations per note. This exhaustive sampling, combined with hand-tuned notes spread across four octaves, allows for detailed performance. Control features such as micro-tuning and width adjustment enhance how the instrument integrates with other orchestral elements, simulating natural stereo width in an orchestral setting.
