Rust 4

Rust 4 is the most extensive volume in our classic Rust series of metallic percussive and melodic instruments. Recorded at the East Contra Costa Historical Society’s agricultural museum in Knightsen, California, this library captures the essence of 150 years of rural history. Using our custom studio-grade field recording rigs, we explored the museum grounds to capture sounds from vintage farm implements, equipment, and household devices in pristine fidelity.

We recorded a 40-foot tall windmill, pioneer-era farmhouse antiques, and vintage devices made of brass, copper, steel, tin, bronze, and cast & wrought iron. The sounds were meticulously captured using ball, stick, felt, and metal mallet percussion, providing a vast collection of playable instruments and effect banks, categorized into tunable percussion kits by object, style, tone, and sonic character.
